Director and screenwriter EVA M.C. ZANEN (1982) graduated in 2006 as a theater teacher at The Amsterdam University of the Arts. Subsequently she worked as an actress, teacher and director. She made her first short films, including the videoclip for Caro Emerald's hit single Back it up (2007). In 2013, Eva completed her studies in directing fiction at the Netherlands Film Academy (AHK), with the tragi-comical mosaic film We Apologize for the Inconvenience. Eva's work has a distinctive gutsy visual style, with a great eye for detail, a stylistic feel and a huge love for acting and diverse acting styles. Together with Matthijs Bockting she won the Zilveren Krulstaart for Once upon a ladder (2016) which she also directed. In addition to this film, she directed the tragicomic short Sjaak's wife died, so he has to say something (2018) and the comical road and family movie Bears Love Me! (2019, nominated for the Cinekid Leeuw for Best Dutch Family Film).
