Sara Summa (Paris, 16.12.1988) was born in an Italian family in France. Since early childhood she participated in numerous film and theater projects. In 2011 she finished her master's degree in film, for which she studied in France, Italy and the USA. She has lived and worked in Berlin since 2011 where she began her directing studies at the DFFB in 2013. After several short films, her first feature length film "The Last to See Them" celebrated its world premiere at the 69th Berlinale. The film subsequently screened at numerous festivals worldwide and won awards for Best Director and Best Feature. In 2020, Sara won the German cultural institution BKM's Screenplay Grant for her project "A Safe Place".
