DaHome Award

To discuss home today, a cross-cultural perspective is needed, as emphasized by the Landshut Festival section DaHome. We have chosen to honor a film in this section whose main character no longer knows where she belongs—to Germany or to Venezuela. The talented director translates the familiarity and strangeness she encounters during a family visit into a cinematic interplay of closeness and distance, love and hurt, warmth and coldness. Working with amateur actors and family members, he succeeds in portraying the places of his childhood in an unaffected way while still conveying his mixed feelings about his origins with great clarity.
