Dr. Olaf Heinrich
Bezirkstagspräsident von Niederbayern

Dear friends of short films,

The Landshut Short Film Festival is taking place for the 24th time this year and is organized by the non-profit organization Dynamo Kurzfilm e.V. Every year, the creators show the enthusiasm that arises when like-minded people work passionately together for a cause. For this extraordinary commitment, the association was awarded the Lower Bavaria District Culture Prize in 2021. The artistic director Michael Orth and the organizational director Birgit Horn have developed the Landshut Short Film Festival into a cultural highlight for the city of Landshut and all of Lower Bavaria, which is known far beyond the borders of Bavaria and attracts thousands of guests from home and abroad every year.

New approaches are always being taken to ensure that the festival retains its appeal. Last year, the LAKFF 2023 was able to build on the success of the pre-Corona years. The new “Local Round” competition was also well received and the fact that it has hit a nerve with the times was shown this year by the many registrations specifically for this category.

From a total of 2,000 film registrations, 219 films from 37 countries were selected and shown at 58 events over the six days of the festival at three locations. Months of intensive preparatory work are behind these numbers. Despite the great popularity of visitors and filmmakers, the LAKFF has always remained familiar. At the same time, it presents our Landshut as an openminded and innovative city in which you can feel comfortable.

I wish all viewers, filmmakers, film enthusiasts and the organizers much success, wonderful film experiences, enriching encounters, and interesting conversations on these six days.
