Brave new modern world. Our world is in a constant state of change, and this change seems to accelerate with every new technological advancement. So what remains of us when everything develops at such a rapid pace? How do we cope with this tempo? Do we succumb to fears of the future, or do we work alongside new technologies? Technologial progress is unstoppable; that’s never been any different throughout human history. But what is it like to live in the here and now, with an eye on an uncertain future?

A small example from our everyday lives: captchas. These time-consuming puzzles unite people worldwide in their shared frustration. „I’M NOT A ROBOT“ – yes, we know that. But who hasn’t, in a rush, failed to click on every tiny detail of the required image correctly? It’s a test, so small and seemingly insignificant, yet it can prompt us to ask existential questions.

This question of what it means to be human also arises in the education of artificial intelligence. „Am I a child too?“ the kindergarten teacher is asked. However, the question does not come from one of his young pupils but from a highly developed artificial intelligence. It has potential, yes, but in reality, it cannot yet do anything. Telling it about our world, shaping its „being“ – that is the educator’s task. The real world has shown us how quickly algorithms can become radicalised through social media. So why not teach this young technology, while it is still in its proverbial infancy, what it means to be human, just as it was once taught to us?

The experimental project THE EGGREGORES’ THEORY takes a step that makes many nervous – and rightly so. It approaches artificial intelligence as a tool rather than using it as a substitute for creative work. Personal art should be created by humans – yet collaborating with AI offers new means of self-expression.

International short films take an unflinching look at the future, offering visions of what is to come that are not as terrifying as they may seem. The future is inevitable – so why not have the courage to explore new perspectives and grow together with it?
