A 15-year-old refugee is stabbed to death in a small town in northern Germany. The police write of a ‘random victim’. The film reads the investigation files, dives through archives and images of small-town idylls and football matches of the German national team. In the face of endless single incidents against racialised people in Germany, the film opens up the file of a case in the director's home town.
