In DEAD PERIOD, lifelong friends Caleb, an African American, and Duarte, a Latino, compete for the same college basketball scholarship. Their friendship fractures as they face off, mirroring the struggles of Dreamers – immigrants raised in the U.S. with uncertain legal status. The film highlights the tensions and challenges these young people face in contemporary U.S. American society.
