Dr. Olaf Heinrich
Bezirkstagspräsident von Niederbayern
Dear friends of short film,
2,000 films were submitted for this year’s Landshut Short Film Festival. Of these, 221 films from 36 countries were selected. Visitors can watch films for around 55 hours at the three venues and also gain insights behind the scenes. Traditionally, many filmmakers are also present, offering opportunities for conversation.
These numbers are impressive. But even more impressive is how much work it takes to organize this festival every year – now in its 26th edition. Artistic director Michael Orth, organizational director Birgit Horn, and their team spend months preparing for the event.
They do this because they are passionate film lovers themselves, but above all to inspire this enthusiasm in others.
The organizers succeed in doing this every year, partly because they break new ground and add new formats to the festival. The Landshut Short Film Festival has thus developed into a cultural highlight for the city of Landshut and the entire Lower Bavaria region, known far beyond the borders of Bavaria and attracting thousands of guests from Germany and abroad every year. Despite its great popularity with visitors and filmmakers, the LAKFF has always maintained a friendly, intimate atmosphere. At the same time, it shows how open and innovative our city of Landshut is. I wish all viewers, filmmakers, film enthusiasts, and organizers much success over these six days, wonderful cinematic experiences, enriching encounters, and interesting discussions.
